Winter is in full swing; the winds are chilly; the last of the leaves are falling, and the sunsets are magnificent!
Before schools break for their mid-year recess and trips away become costlier, retreat from the hustle of life and explore the landscapes of South Africa with Camp Master.
A country full of gorgeous campsites and so much to see, deciding where to book your next camping holiday can be slightly overwhelming.
To help thin the hundreds of options, we’ve put together a list of some of our many favourites from a few provinces:
Kwa-Zulu Natal:
About 200km’s north of Durban, leading further into the Kingdom of Zululand is where you will find the pristine paradise that is Cape Vidal. This spot is ideal for divers, shore and ski-boat anglers, and beach lovers. The campsite is host to 50 camp stands as well as self-catering cabins, a small grocery store and braai facilities. As it is found within the protected iSimangaliso Wetland Park, there are game drives available as well as picnic sites and walking trails.
Gauteng:
Positioned on the south-eastern side of the Roodeplaat Dam, Dinokeng Fishing & Camping is about 15 minutes’ drive from Pretoria and ideal for fishermen with carp, barbel, bream and yellowfish available for the catch. You can also enjoy picnics, canoeing, mountain biking and game viewing in Roodeplaat Nature Reserve. The campsite consists of 28 stands, 17 of these on the water’s edge. There’s also a cycling track nearby.
Western Cape:
Sunset on the Langeberg is one of the most exquisite sights in South Africa, and Oewerzicht is a brilliant place to enjoy it. Apart from the spectacular scenery, there’s also fishing and canoeing in the Riviersonderend River which flows right past the campground. Some nearby activities include a 25km mountain bike trail, hiking routes, tractor rides, swimming, tubing and a Saturday market in the charming nearby town of Greyton.
Whether on the banks of a river, walking distance from the beach or burrowed in the mountains, the perfect campsite with Camp Master is waiting for you.
Stay sheltered and cozy with the cowl-shaped hollow fibre Camp Master Quest 450C sleeping bag and the 5-sleeper Safari Dome 505 camping tent available at your nearest Makro or Game.
